re-homing terms & conditions
Please read the terms and conditions below carefully and sign the downloadable document before completing your application to re-home a horse/pony/donkey. This is not the agreement form; that will be signed once a suitable equine is agreed upon.

Loanees Responsibilities
Must have experience of caring for equines, or have a reliable mentor to help you.

The equine must be attended by a registered farrier at least every 6 to 8 weeks possibly sooner if required, either to be shod or trimmed.

The equine must be wormed regularly following an approved worming programme.

The equine must be vaccinated by a veterinary surgeon annually for flu and tetanus, in accordance with its current records. (should the vaccination lapse the loanee will be responsible for a new programme)

The equines teeth must be examined annually by an equine specific veterinary surgeon or by an approved BEVA (British Equine Veterinary Association) equine dental technician.

The equines weight must be managed in accordance with the breed and workload.

The equines tack if ridden must be correctly fitted by saddler approved by the Society of Master Saddlers, and re checked on an annual basis.

The equine must be covered for Third Party Liability Insurance and it is strongly advised to insure for veterinary fees.

Record sheets provided must be kept up to date.

Field and Stable Management
The equine must have companionship from another equine.

The equine must have daily turnout. (unless under specific veterinary care)

The equine must not be tethered (unless under specific veterinary care).

Grazing needs to be suitable to the particular equine.

Some equines may need restricted grazing, this needs to be considered.
There needs to be some form of shelter/ manmade or natural.

Fencing and gates must be in good repair. (no barbed wire)

The land should be well managed to reduce the risk of worm infestation.

There should be no poisonous plants in or around the field.

There has to be a constant supply of fresh water in a safe container or trough.

You must have access to a stable or shelter should the equine be ill or injured.

General Information
Bransby Home of Rest for Horses retains legal ownership of each equine re-homed, enabling us to guarantee their continued welfare.

Equines passports and microchips must be in the name of Bransby as registered keeper, the loanee may not transfer them to their own name.

Equines cannot be used for breeding purposes.

Any change of address or change of premises where the horse will be kept must be reported to Bransby before any change takes place. (Incl holiday cover.)

A representative from Bransby shall have the right of access and inspect the loaned equine with or without prior notice.

Bransby reserves the right to terminate the agreement with immediate effect, if terms and conditions are broken.

Bransby must be informed of any accident, illness or injury that needed veterinary treatment.

The equine will not be used for any commercial purpose e.g. riding lessons, working livery, hire etc.

Any costs incurred are the loanees responsibility.
