Foster Scheme

Once fit and well, the animals that come to the Home are assessed to identify their care needs. As you can see from the stories below some of the animals we rescue benefit from being placed in private homes. We currently have over 150 animals out on our foster scheme and we are always looking for new homes. If you feel you could provide a home to one of our animals, then please do get in touch.

On making an application we will discuss your requirements for the animal you are seeking to foster, we will then carry out an inspection of the potential new home. Should work be required to bring the potential new home up to standard we will ask for this to be done and arrange a second pre-home check. It is necessary that we ensure the new home is secure as this helps ensure healthy and safety of both animal and foster owner.

Once the foster home has passed inspection we will match the horse, pony or donkey with the foster owner. The foster animals remain the property of Bransby and we carry out spot home checks three times a year. We produce a bi-annual foster newsletter and are always on hand to provide any advice.

A few of the Animals in Foster Homes:

Paddy

Paddy came to the home after being rescued by request of the RSPCA from wasteland; he had a large wound at the top of his neck which we believe was caused by a tether chain. On arrival he received immediate veterinary care and after several weeks he made a complete recovery. He then joined the youngster herd at the Palace yard where he soon became a firm favourite with the staff.

Paddy was bought into work last summer and quickly found a new home. Unfortunately his fosterer moved away and he had to be returned to Bransby. However he soon found a new possible foster mum, Becky was a support officer for one of our volunteers, she had been visiting Bransby on a regular basis and fell in love with Paddy. They soon got to know one another forming a strong bond. Becky came to ride him and offered him a fantastic new home where he is settling in well and has soon become a much loved member of the family.
